Thus, while a narrative author may create an opinion about an issue, he/she won’t do so based on the evidence presented to him/her. In a descriptive article, on the other hand, the writer has an opportunity to develop a specific perspective through using evidence and/or a thorough summary of this evidence.

As expository essays, the style and format of the essay will depend upon the purpose of the assignment and the character of the material being composed. An expository essay will exhibit collected facts and argue a particular point of view in support of it. A narrative expository will provide a thorough history of a specific event or subject. A descriptive article will examine current events which impact the individuals involved.

In essay writing, there are four main categories: qualitative essay, expository essay, descriptive essay and essay. Argumentative essays are composed using a specific, thought-out thesis.
